Kitchen and The Plastic Spoons
Formed more or less by accident in early 1980, the brief but luminous career of Kitchen and The Plastic Spoons left an indelible mark on the synth/minimalist/goth scene. Despite only releasing two singles and a few compilation tracks they have never been forgotten and Ill Wind Records are very proud and happy to release this groundbreaking group on CD for the very first time, with the collaboration of all the original band members.

The Stuff have raised quite a bit of interest (as well as one or two eyebrows) with their debut EP "Say Hello to Mary" and their album "Pick It Up, Pig Boy". Released in Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Australia/New Zealand and the UK, they've received very positive reviews across the board and have been played and/or playlisted all over the world on stations such as KROQ/Rodney on The Roq, Indie FM, BBC6/Steve Lamacq and many others. Critics hear influences from bands as diverse as The Stooges, Blur, Kinks, Jesus and Mary Chain and The Fall. The Stuff themselves say nothing- but didn't we see a Suzi Quatro t-shirt on one of them the other day?"...willful, brutal simplicity and sharply melodic smarts." Allmusic.com "Whether or not rodent rock becomes a hot new trend, the grimy, gritty sound showcased on Pick It Up, Pig Boy definitely has teeth." Kevin Renick, Playback St Louis (USA) "Pick it Up, Pig Boy is the most fun I've heard in a very long time. Jesus And The Mary Chain meet Caesar's Palace, kneaded together with deafening guitars. My ears cry uncle." metica.se (Sweden) » Visit The Stuff's website here » Visit The Stuff on MySpace » Direct link to photo gallery Band photo (300dpi CMYK) Band biography (English pdf) Band biography (Swedish pdf) Reviews (English pdf) Radio and TV playlistings (English pdf) Bright LightningBright Lightning landed in Sweden from the Southern California desert region in the summer of 1985. He worked at college radio in Uppsala, where he also played in some bands. After a few years and some experimentation and band politics he had enough and stopped looking for a deal. He did not stop writing songs though. He released a record on his own but nothing happened. Then Bright Lightning meets with Ill Wind Records. He plays them a single that he has recorded and they like it and agree to distribute it in Scandinavia. A spark is hit and the fire slowly starts to burn.
